It was Eurovision 2024 yesterday, and as has now become something of a tradition for me, I watched it with Twitter open and a ready supply of cider – thus becoming increasingly under the influence of cider as the evening rolled on and commenting on Twitter.

The live/drunk tweet-along from Eurovision 2021
Although I’ve been watching Eurovision since 2014 and commenting on Twitter as the evening progresses – both tasks aided with a supply of cider and snacks – I’ve only once pulled my comments off Twitter and turned them into a blog post, in 2017. Although, to be fair, in either 2018 or 2019 I didn’t make it through the entire show online because I hit a Twitter limit and was unable to post after that point, and in 2020 rain coronavirus stopped play. So, really, I’ve only not done this…
Eurovision 2017 – as seen through cider-specs!
Until 2014, the Eurovision Song Contest wasn’t something I was inclined to watch, other than checking in towards the very end to see how the UK was doing. However, in 2014 I happened to be at a loose end on the evening the contest took place, so I decided to watch it, and comment on Twitter as I did so – with plenty of cider handy. I enjoyed doing that so much that I’ve repeated the exercise each year since – and this year, I’ve decided to pull my comments…
It’s been how long? =:o
My last post here was all the way back at the end of December, and it’s now 11th May, so yet again I’ve let this blog slide, and slide, and slide. In fairness, though, the main reason is work. This year (so far) I’ve had more work since as long as I can remember – probably going all the way back to my first job, where I was a full time employee at a firm of accountants.
The good, the bad, and the annoying
Not for the first time – and probably not for the last – I’ve allowed my personal blog to gather dust for a while. It’s been a little over a year since my last post, on 21st December 2022, the second post in which I talk about what I’m doing with Drop Rock, one of my old games.
Missing in action? Nah, been a bit busy, mate
Busy, that is, not working – but looking for work. Last September, my main client (i.e. my main source of income) let me go after 22 years service. This was inevitable; I anticipated it after the company was taken over at the end of 2020, and was even planning to leave under my own steam, but at a slightly later point – so they beat me to the punch.
Twitterings – January 2022
Although VinceH’s Miscellany was set up as a blog, using popular blogging software, I don’t tend to use it as much as I probably should. I do have a bunch of partly written text/html files that could be finished off and turned into posts (including more possible entries in the Tales from the Pandumbic series), and I should do that, as that’s why I started writing them in the first place – but the truth is, I tend to concentrate on other things.
